Even if this is considered, it should be discussed following the 2011 season.  GM's have planned for the current rules for this season.

No problem.

We have all the time to iron out all the details.

Not that I'm necessarily against trading picks, but one argument to keep the current ban:

There is a lot of concern going around on new GM's coming in and destroying a team then quitting, leaving future GM's with little or nothing to work from.  Preventing the trading of picks ensures that a new GM will have at least a full slate of picks to work from in the upcoming draft.

The other benefit of trading picks is it allows teams to get more value out of the draft. Suppose a team has the 5th overall pick and see nothing that he likes, he should be able to trade down or something to maximize the value.

:iatp:

there are various other reasons as to why we shouldn't allow it with restrictions.  allow it or do not, IMO.

i have been a strong opponent of trading picks, but it does make it a lot more fun to do so. I would have no problem going back to the old ways of doing things. But i do think every team should have to keep their first rounder.

I feel like that dictates a GM's moves too much.  Also, teams may trade heavily to get the number 1 overall.  This could in turn benefit the teams with the worst records.  I think it should be left open to all picks being traded, if we decide to trade any.

I wasn't against taking the rule out in the first place.

While unrealistic the trading of draft picks does add a nice level to the game.

60 days is fine for reasons stated.  keeps teams honest when bidding on players.

I would not have brought up the issue if AGM is more competitve than its current state.

Seems like everyone likes the trading of draft picks to some degree, what harm is there to implement it?
