Nope; because player contracts will not expire until after teams have had the opportunity to extend contracts. Therefore; you are allowed to pursue extensions with players that shouldn't be on your roster. Further, your roster shouldn't have had been in violation earlier than this. It is my fault I didn't enforce it before playoffs. Consider yourself lucky you haven't had to do this earlier.
so I have to release them or buy them out. It seems like it would be the same thing as season is over?

Once my free agent players are released I will be fine or do I have to make an adjustment now?
If the roster problems involve player buyouts (for example, I am over the cap by .2Mill) DO I still have to buy somebody else out or will those come off the books and I am fine?
