TB would like to extend SS Addison Russell for five years, $20m ($4m/yr) through 2023.

Under our established rules, if a prospect is given an extension during the off-season, that new contract goes into effect the following year--which is 2018. If you want an extension to go until 2023, you need to wait until the opening day of the season, or later, to have Russell's contract be $0.5m (2018) and $4.0m (2023).

1.) Any player who is currently under a prospect contract may be signed to a regular contract extension (see below), but they may also be signed to a prospect extension.
2.) Prospect extensions are subject to the following stipulations:
a.) The extension must be a 5-year deal where the annual salary is X% of their market value.
b.) The resulting annual salary must be no less than $4m.
3.) No matter what the current prospect contract is, the prospect extension kicks in the following year at the rate based on when the contract is given.Let us know what you want to do.
