We resolved to change the IR rules in order to let Fantrax handle eligibility. The only problem with that which we just discovered is that Fantrax determines eligibility based on the NHL team placing a player on IR. If a player is on IR in real life, then he's eligible for IR here in our league.
That's going to work just fine during the regular season - the problem that we just discovered is that NHL teams don't necessarily use their IR designations in the offseason - meaning a player that's legitimately out for a long period of time may still be on the NHL active roster during the offseason - preventing you from moving the player to IR.
What I'd like to do is reinstate our previous eligibility rules for the OFFSEASON ONLY. Enabling you to post an IR move here on the board for us admins to process. The eligibility guidelines will be the same as our original LTIR: Intended for players who are expected to be out for an extended period of time: at least 10 games or 24 days.
If you have a player that meets these guidelines and Fantrax won't allow you to move them to IR, you would simply post here on the board to get it done in the offseason. You may be asked to justify the move if the published news on the players outtage is not clear to the admins.
This sound OK to everyone?
