Yeah, that's how I remembered it. False alarm. Just scared the bejeezus out of myself for a moment that I had dropped the ball and would have to fire or demote myself, a la Dale Tallon.
There is an extension period now in the beginning of the offseason where teams can extend players whose contract ended at the end of 17/18. The players are still owned by you until you sign them to an extension or trade them. If you don't sign them to an extension by the time the extension deadline comes then they go to FA.

so we cant make anymore buyouts under this year cap? Or you mean no more changes can be made after the 18/19 rosters are posted?
